A Closing Note on the First Semester

We have reached Issue 243. Starting in spring and arriving now at the full warmth of early summer, we are proud to bring you the final issue of the first semester of 2026. The excitement of the semester's beginning has settled into a comfortable routine, and before we knew it, the semester is coming to a close.
Looking back, a lot happened this semester. May brought a warm and festive mood to campus, with events taking place all around the school. There was the energy of the university festival, where students came together and had fun, and the sports day, where everyone cheered each other on while working up a sweat. Stepping outside the classroom to connect with others made this semester all the richer. Those moments may seem small as they pass, but looking back, they are the ones that fill our college memories most.
This semester was also especially meaningful for the Cheongdae Times family. Issue 243 features the very first story written by a new trainee reporter who joined us this spring. That first assignment took them straight into the heart of our university's biggest festival, Uam Daedongje. Wearing a press badge for the first time and walking around campus with an unfamiliar camera and notepad in hand, that could not have been easy.
They say the first step is always the hardest. The enthusiasm our trainee reporter showed, getting out there and capturing students' real voices despite the nerves of a first assignment, is what makes this issue shine a little brighter. We believe that every challenge and drop of sweat faced in the field will become the strongest foundation for growing into a great journalist.
In Issue 243, we have prepared ten stories covering everything from campus events to academics, career guidance, and a summer break guide. We open with a two-day report on ‘Uam Daedongje’, followed by a look at how our students are using AI in their studies. We also cover the Central Library's 2026 Academic E-Resources Fair, and a Children's Day aviation career mentoring event hosted by the Aviation Services and Flight Operations clubs. Additional stories include battery safety training for UAM and drones through the RISE Project K-Aviation MRO Center, Korean language activities run by the Korean Language Culture Center, and the achievement of Professor Kangrae Jo from the Department of Advanced Materials and Chemical Engineering, whose paper was published in one of the world's top chemistry journals.
We also take a closer look at the support services offered by the Disability Student Support Office at the Student Counseling Center, and the career programs available through the Admissions and Career Center. Rounding it all out is a practical summer break guide covering TOEIC camps, certifications, and summer classes — your roadmap to making the most of your vacation.

In this issue, each reporter looked at the campus through their own eyes, working to balance stories close to students' everyday lives with topics worth a closer look. Behind every finished article were countless questions, fact-checks, and revisions. The process can be tiring, but the sense of satisfaction when a story comes together never gets old.
By the time this issue reaches you, final exams will likely be in full swing. It is that time of the semester when the tiredness from midterms has barely faded and another round of exams is already here. To every student pushing through in their own way — we are cheering you on. Hold on just a little longer, because summer break is waiting on the other side.
The end of a semester always brings a mix of feelings — a little regret about what could have been done better, but also a quiet sense of relief. Taking that to heart, we will carry the lessons of this semester and your feedback with us as we work to come back in the second semester as a paper that listens even more closely to your voices.

1학기, 마무리의 자리에서

어느덧 243호입니다. 봄으로 시작해 초여름의 기운이 완연해진 지금 2026년 1학기의 마지막 호를 여러분께 선보이게 되었습니다. 학기 초의 설렘이 익숙함으로 바뀌고 일상이 자리를 잡아가는 동안 어느새 한 학기가 저물고 있습니다.
돌이켜보면 이번 학기는 참 많은 일들이 있었습니다. 5월 가정의 달을 맞아 따뜻한 분위기가 캠퍼스를 감쌌고 학교 곳곳에서 다양한 행사들이 이어졌습니다. 학우들이 한자리에 모여 함께 즐겼던 축제의 열기도 있었고 체육대회에서 땀 흘리며 서로를 응원했던 순간들도 있었습니다. 강의실 안에서만 머무는 것이 아니라 밖으로 나와 부딪히고 어울렸던 시간들이 한 학기를 더욱 풍성하게 만들어 주었습니다. 그 모든 순간들이 지나고 나면 별것 아닌 것처럼 느껴지기도 하지만 돌아보면 그런 장면들이 대학 생활을 채우는 가장 중요한 기억이 됩니다.
특히 이번 학기는 청대타임즈 가족들에게도 무척 뜻깊은 시간이었습니다. 이번 243호에는 올봄 우리 신문사에 새로 합류한 수습기자의 첫 취재 기사가 실려 있습니다. 그 첫 발걸음은 다름 아닌 우리 대학의 가장 큰 축제인 ‘우암대동제’의 활기 넘치는 현장이었습니다. 처음으로 기자증을 목에 걸고, 낯선 카메라와 수첩을 든 채 캠퍼스 곳곳을 누비는 일이 결코 쉽지만은 않았을 것입니다.
무엇이든 시작이 가장 어렵다고 합니다. 첫 취재라는 긴장감 속에서도 학우들의 생생한 목소리를 담기 위해 발로 뛴 수습기자의 열정이 있었기에 이번 호가 한층 더 빛날 수 있었습니다. 현장에서 마주한 고민과 땀방울은 앞으로 더 단단한 기자로 성장할 수 있는 가장 큰 자양분이 되리라 믿습니다.
이번 243호에서는 캠퍼스 현장부터 학업, 진로, 방학 가이드까지 총 10개의 소식을 준비했습니다. 먼저 우암대동제의 이틀간을 기록한 축제 취재와 디지털 시대 우리 대학 학생들의 AI 활용 실태 조사를 실었습니다. 이어 중앙도서관의 2026 학술전자정보박람회 현장과 항공서비스·항공운항학과 동아리의 어린이날 항공진로멘토링 소식을 전합니다. 또한 RISE사업 K-항공MRO 융합인재양성센터의 UAM·드론 배터리 안전 교육, 국어문화원의 우리말 가꿈이 활동, 그리고 신소재화공과 조강래 교수님의 논문 선정 성과를 조명했습니다.
더불어 학생종합상담센터 장애학생지원실의 캠퍼스 지원 체계와 청주대 입학취업지원관의 다양한 취업 프로그램을 상세히 안내해 드립니다. 마지막으로 토익캠프, 자격증, 계절학기 등을 총망라한 하계 방학 갓생 가이드를 통해 알찬 방학을 보낼 수 있는 구체적인 로드맵을 제시합니다.

이번 호에서도 기자들은 각자의 시선으로 학교 곳곳을 살폈습니다. 학우들의 일상과 맞닿아 있는 주제들과 한 번쯤 들여다봐야 할 이슈들을 균형 있게 담아내려 했습니다. 기사 하나를 완성하기까지 수많은 질문과 확인 그리고 수정의 과정이 있었습니다. 그 과정이 때로는 고단하지만 완성된 기사를 마주할 때의 보람은 여전히 큽니다.
이 기사가 학우 여러분께 닿을 때쯤이면 기말고사 준비가 한창일 것입니다. 중간고사의 피로가 채 가시기도 전에 다시 시험을 마주해야 하는 시기입니다. 저마다의 자리에서 각자의 방식으로 치열하게 버티고 있을 학우들에게 응원의 마음을 전합니다. 지금 이 시간이 지나면 방학이 기다리고 있으니 조금만 더 힘내시길 바랍니다.
한 학기의 마지막은 늘 아쉬움과 홀가분함이 동시에 찾아옵니다. 더 잘할 수 있었던 부분들이 눈에 밟히면서도 어딘가 후련한 감각이 함께 옵니다. 이번 학기의 소중한 경험과 학우 여러분이 보내주신 피드백을 바탕으로, 다가오는 2학기에는 여러분의 목소리에 더욱 귀 기울이는 신문으로 돌아오겠습니다.
1학기 내내 청대타임즈를 읽어주신 학우 여러분께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 바쁜 일상 속에서도 우리 대학의 언론에 따뜻한 관심을 가져주신 덕분에 저희 편집국원 모두가 멈추지 않고 계속해서 나아갈 수 있었습니다. 지쳤던 몸과 마음을 방학 동안 충분히 다스리며 쉬시고, 2학기에 다시 건강하고 활기찬 모습으로 만나 뵐 수 있기를 바랍니다.
