Introduction

Major of Library & Information Science

The Major of Library & Information Science has the educational objective of producing outstanding individuals who are needed in the information and knowledge society.
In accordance with the educational objective above, the Major of Library & Information Science offers training required for competency in the analysis and use of advanced knowledge and information, the planning and provision of user services, and the development and operation of information systems required for librarians and information specialists to perform their duties at university libraries, public libraries, school libraries, special libraries and information centers, records management offices, information systems and communication companies, and various other information and culture related agencies.
In addition, the course of study emphasizes the ability to continue exploring and developing new knowledge in the practical field after graduation and to cultivate sound professional ethics awareness.

Major of English Language & Literature

The main objective of the major of English Language & Literature is to train outstanding individuals needed in this era of globalization. To foster well-rounded intellectuals for society and the future, courses have been designed in English Literature, including Introduction to British & American Literature, American Literature & Culture, and History of English Literature; for English Linguistics, including Introduction to English Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, and Syntax; and for practical English, including Practice of English Pronunciation, Practical English Grammar, and Practice of English Presentation. In particular, students will develop creative and critical thinking skills through extensive study of various British and American literary works and improve their English speaking and listening skills through language training using various multimedia tools. A number of lectures are taught by native English–speaking professors, providing an immersive virtual environment for language learning.

Major of Oriental Language

In the 21st century, the demand for understanding Chinese and Japanese cultures have increased, and the role of Asian countries has become very important.
The Major of Oriental Language plays a key role in enhancing the competitiveness of the East Asian era through developmental cooperation and mutual growth through education on the language, literature, and culture of the East, including China and Japan. The Major of Oriental Language produces experts who can grasp the grand currents of time with objective viewpoints and pursue universal values with a global-mind set, while responding to the 21st century, the era of Asia, through a broad-ranging education in the languages and literature of China and Japan.
In the Major of Oriental Language and Literature, students acquire the ability to speak two languages: Chinese and Japanese. At the same time, through multilateral understanding and intensive courses, upon graduation, students are able to use their professional knowledge in various professions.
