Our University Shooting Team, Daegu Mayor's National Shooting Competition Excellent achievement

Our university’s shooting team competed in the 9th Daegu Mayor’s Cup National Shooting Competition at the Daegu International Shooting Range from March 16 to 22, securing four medals across individual and team events and signaling a strong start to the 2026 season.
The 9th Daegu Mayor’s Cup National Shooting Competition is one of the largest national events for athletes registered in 2026, featuring participants from middle school, high school, university and general divisions. The competition consists of a total of 13 events, including the 10m air rifle, 10m air pistol, 50m rifle prone, 50m pistol, and 25m rapid-fire pistol. It is the first official competition in 2026 to accept applications for participation through the website of the University Shooting Federation. The competition has showcased a high level of competition, highlighted by the participation of Hyojin Ban, the gold medalist in the 10m air rifle at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Traditionally strong in pistol events, our university's shooting team has recently enhanced its competitiveness in rifle events, establishing itself as a more complete and competitive squad. Lim Chul-min, a student in the Department of Physical Education said, “Our college shooting team has a long tradition of excellence in
pistol events. Since the establishment of a rifle team, we have become a highly competitive squad capable of excelling in both disciplines.”

The growth of our university’s shooting team was also reflected in the results of this competition. The team won a total of four medals, including one gold, one silver, and two bronze, and showed strong performances in both individual and team events. In particular, some events even saw new records being set, showing that the athletes’ skills had greatly improved.
Lim Cheol-min, a student majoring in Physical Education, competed in the men’s 50m three-position individual event and won the gold medal, setting a new Korean record with a score of 353.6 in the finals. Based on his stable performance and strong concentration, his performance in the finals was regarded as one of the best results of the competition. He also won a silver medal in the 50m individual event, achieving podium finishes in both events. This result shows his ability to perform consistently across different events, proving his competitiveness beyond a single discipline.
In the team events, the team’s strong teamwork was also evident. The men’s 10m air pistol team, consisting of Kim Doo-yeon (Physical Education major), Kang Dae-hyun (Physical Education major), Kim Joo-young (Physical Education major), and Lee Gun-young (Economics and Trade major), won a bronze medal with their consistent performance.
The air rifle team, made up of Kim Wan-hee (Physical Education major), Kang Ji-seong (Physical Education major), Kim Young-hoon (Physical Education major), and Lee In-hyeok (Physical Education major), also secured a bronze medal, showing strong results across multiple events.
Our university’s shooting team has achieved strong results across all events, thanks to a balanced combination of individual skill and teamwork. Behind these achievements lies the players’ consistent training and focus. These achievements are underpinned by the players’ consistent training and focus. Lim Chul-min, who won a gold medal at the competition, spoke about how he got into shooting, how he prepared for the event, and his experience during the competition.

Q: What prompted you to take up shooting?
A: I was first introduced to shooting through a sports experience program during the summer after sixth grade. It felt more unique than other sports, which made me want to try it. On the final day, my coach encouraged me to pursue it more seriously. I officially joined the team in my first year of middle school.
Q: What was the most memorable moment while playing in this competition?
A: The most memorable moment for me was the final shot in the gold medal match. Until that moment, there were times when I was firmly in first place, times when I was in second, and even a moment when I turned the tables with the last shot. Of course, finishing in first place would have been ideal, but regardless of the result, giving my best until the very last shot felt like the moment I grew the most. That’s why the final shot remains the most memorable moment for me.
Q: What do the results of this competition mean to you and your club?
A: I think the results of this competition contributed to enhancing our university's reputation, which makes it very meaningful to me. It's also a rewarding result personally, and an achievement that has given both the team and me a great sense of pride.
Q: What are your personal goals that you would like to achieve?
A: My personal goal is to achieve a strong result at the Asian Games selection trial in Changwon from the 20th to the 26th and earn a spot on the Asian Games team.
Q: What are your thoughts on the competition and your future plans?
A: Compared to last season, I felt that my performance in the finals had improved. More than just having a good day, it felt like I understood what it takes to perform well, which is why this experience has stayed with me for a long time. As for my future plans, my goal is to become the best. To achieve this, I will continue to train consistently and prove myself through my results.
Finally, Lim Cheol-min offered advice to students at our university, including those aspiring to become athletes. He said, “If you dream of becoming an athlete, I hope you continue to challenge yourself. Both success and failure come from taking on challenges. Don’t be afraid of failure, but keep pushing forward and continue to challenge yourself.”
His words once again highlight the importance of perseverance and the power of continuous effort, reminding us that those who keep moving forward cannot be easily overtaken.
우리대학 사격부, 대구시장배 전국사격대회 우수한 성적 쾌거

우리대학 사격부는 지난 3월 16일부터 22일까지 일주일 간 대구국제사격장에서 열린 제9회 대구시장배 전국사격대회에 참가하여 개인 및 단체전에서 총 4개의 메달을 획득하는 우수한 성적을 거두며 2026년 시즌의 성공적인 출발을 알렸다.
제9회 대구시장배 전국사격대회는 2026년 선수 등록자를 대상으로 중등부, 고등부, 대학부, 일반부 모두가 참가하는 전국 단위의 대규모 대회다. 종목은 10M 공기소총, 10M 공기권총, 50M 소총 복사, 50M 권총, 25M 속사권총 등 총 13개의 종목으로 구성되어 있으며. 대학사격연맹 홈페이지를 통해 참가 신청을 접수하는 2026년 첫 공식대회다. 2025년도 대회에서도 2024 파리 올림픽 10m 공기 소총 금메달리스트 반효진 선수가 출전하는 등 높은 수준의 경쟁이 펼쳐진 바 있는 대회다. 이처럼 높은 경쟁력을 갖춘 무대 속에서 우리대학 사격부는 개인전과 단체전 모두에서 성과를 거두며 팀의 저력을 입증했다.
우리대학 사격부는 전통적으로 권총 종목에서 강세를 보여온 팀으로서 최근에는 소총 종목까지 경쟁력을 확보하며 종합적인 전력을 갖춘 팀으로 성장하고 있다. 생활체육학과 24학번 임철민 학생은 “우리 대학 사격부는 권총으로 오랜 역사와 높은 위상을 지닌 팀이지만, 소총 팀을 꾸리기 시작한 이후부터 두 종목 모두에서 상위권 경쟁력을 갖춘 우승이 가능한 팀으로 발전하고 있다”고 설명했다.

이러한 우리대학 사격부의 성장세는 이번 대회 결과로도 이어졌다. 우리대학은 이번 대회에서 금메달 1개, 은메달 1개, 동메달 2개 등 총 4개의 메달을 획득하며 개인전과 단체전 전반에서 고른 활약을 보였다. 특히 일부 종목에서는 기록 경신까지 이뤄내며, 이는 선수들의 기량이 한층 도약했음을 보여주었다.
남자대학부 50m 3자세 개인전에 출전한 생활채육학과 24학번 임철민 학생은 결선에서 353.6점을 기록하며 한국신기록 경신, 금메달을 차지하는 쾌거를 이뤘다. 안정적인 경기 운영과 집중력을 바탕으로 결선에서 우수한 기량을 선보이며 이번 대회 최고의 성과 중 하나로 평가된다. 이어 임철민 학생은 50m 복사 개인전에서도 은메달을 획득하며 두 종목에서 모두 입상하는 성과를 거뒀다. 이는 특정 종목에 국한되지 않고 다양한 종목에서 안정적인 경기력을 발휘할 수 있는 경쟁력을 보여준 결과로 볼 수 있다.
단체전에서도 꾸준한 팀워크가 빛을 발했다. 김두연(생활체육학과 4학년), 강대현(생활체육학과 3학년), 김주영(생활체육학과 2학년), 이건영(경제통상학과 1학년)으로 구성된 남자대학부 10m 공기권총 팀은 안정적인 경기력을 바탕으로 동메달을 획득했으며, 김완희(생활체육학과 4학년), 강지성(생활체육학과 4학년), 김영훈(생활체육 2학년), 이인혁(생활체육학과 1학년)으로 구성된 공기소총 팀 역시 동메달을 획득하면서 종목 전반에서 우수한 성과를 기록했다.
이처럼 우리대학 사격부는 개인 기량과 팀워크를 고루 갖춘 경쟁력을 바탕으로 전 종목에 걸쳐 의미있는 성과를 만들어냈다. 이러한 성과의 배경에는 선수들의 꾸준한 훈련과 집중력이 자리하고 있다. 이번 대회에서 금메달을 획득한 임철민 학생은 사격을 시작하게 된 계기와 대회를 준비하는 과정 그리고 경기 당시의 경험에 대해 다음과 같이 밝혔다.

Q: 사격을 시작하게 된 계기가 어떻게 되나? A: 초등학교 6학년 여름방학 당시 중학교에서 진행된 스포츠 체험 활동을 통해 사격을 처음 접했다. 다른 스포츠 보다 희소성이 있고 남다르게 느껴져 체험에 참여하게 됐고, 마지막 날 코치님의 권유로 전문 선수의 길을 시작하게 됐다. 정식 입단을 중학교 1학년 때 이루어졌다.
Q: 대회를 준비하는 과정에서 중요하게 생각했던 것은? A: 훈련의 양과 꾸준함을 가장 중요하게 생각한다. 무조건적인 훈련량이 정답이라고 할 수는 없다. 하지만, 자신이 할 수 있는 모든 시간을 쏟아붓는 것이 우선적으로 필요하며 지나온 시간을 돌아봤을 때 스스로 후회가 남지 않도록 꾸준히 훈련하는 것이 중요하다.
Q: 이번 대회에서 경기하는 도중 가장 인상 깊었던 순간은? A: 금메달 결정전의 마지막 발이다. 마지막 발을 쏘기 전까지 압도적으로 1위를 유지했던 순간도 있었고, 2위였던 상황도 있었으며 마지막 한 발로 역전한 순간도 있었다. 1위를 기록하면 더욱 좋겠지만 결과와 상관없이 마지막 한 발까지 최선을 다하는 모습이 제가 생각했을 때 스스로 가장 강해지는 순간이라고 느꼈다. 그래서 금메달 결정전 마지막 발을 제일 인상 깊은 순간이라고 말하고 싶다.
Q: 이번 대회의 성적이 본인과 우리대학 사격부에게 어떤 의미였는가? A: 이번 대회의 성적이 우리대학 위상을 높이는 데 기여한 것 같아 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다.개인적으로도 기쁜 결과이며, 팀과 자신 모두에게 자부심을 느끼게 해준 의미있는 성과다.
Q: 개인적으로 이루고 싶은 목표는? A: 개인적인 목표는 오는 20일부터 26일까지 창원에서 열리는 아시안게임 선발전에서 좋은 성적을 거두어 아시안게임에 선발이 되는 것이다.
Q: 이번 대회의 소감과 앞으로의 계획은? A: 작년 시즌보다 결승 경기에서 기량이 향상된 것을 느꼈고, 단순하게 기분이 좋았고 잘 되는 날이 아니라 잘 되는 구조를 경험한 것 같아서 유독 오랫동안 기억에 남는 것 같다. 앞으로의 계획은 최고가 되는 것이다. 이를 위해 꾸준한 훈련과 최선을 다해 기록으로 증명해나가겠다.
마지막으로 임철민 학생은 운동선수를 비롯하여 꿈꾸는 우리대학 학우들에게 “운동선수를 꿈꾸고 계신다면 끊임없이 도전했으면 한다.”라며 “성공과 실패 모두 도전 속에서 얻어지는 것”이라며 “실패를 두려워하지 말고 꾸준히 도전하여 나아가길 바란다”고 조언했다. 이는 계속해서 걸어나가는 사람은 뛴다고 해서 쉽게 따라잡을 수 없다는 말처럼 꾸준함의 중요성과 도전의 힘에 대해 다시 한 번 일깨워준다. |
