On June 9th, Cheougju University announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement about fostering human resources with the Korea Information and Communications University Union.

In this signing ceremony, both organizations promised to cooperate with each other on the 'Probono ICT Mentoring' project, support for training programs and mentoring related to Capstone Design subjects, special lectures and programs on employment and establishment which is part of the SW talent development project promoted by the Ministry of Science Information & Communication Technology.

Meanwhile, 'Probono ICT mentoring' is a project in which ICT experts and college students form a team of mentors and mentees to conduct projects to improve the quality of life of the marginalized, including the disabled and the elderly, using ICT technology.

In 2020, more than 600 mentees have been selected by the ICT Association to do social contribution activities and help young people find employment. It will run until November, and more than 1.3 million won per team will be supported for the project.

Remarkable teams will also be given a award from the Minister of Science Information & Communication Technology and also a short-term training opportunity overseas.

In fact, eight student teams from Cheongju University College of Health and Medical Science Department of Radiology were selected for the 'Probono ICT Mentoring' project. Seong Yeol-hoon, chief of the Department of Radiology of Cheongju University said “We are currently conducting specialized education to integrate the technological convergence of the 4th Industrial Revolution into the medical field.

This opportunity will allow prospective radiologists to understand the difficult life of underprivileged people and to ensure that they are undertaken as an ICT project to safely receive precise radiological examinations."

An official from the ICT Association said The convergence between ICT and various disciplines such as health and humanities can enhance the social value creation effect of project outcomes.

We will actively support non-ICT affiliations such as Cheongju University's College of Health and Medical Science to participate on the project to foster ICT convergent human resources.”
