 Campus Perks: Get the Most Out of Student Support

We often get so caught up in lectures, assignments, and team projects that it’s easy to miss out on the information we really need. Plenty of student support systems are in place to help you throughout your time at university — but many students finish the semester without even knowing they exist.

Our university also offers a range of student support services, including the Career and Start-up Support Division, Volunteer Activity Support, Student Counseling Support, International Exchange Programs, and Certification System. For students, faculty, and international students who may not be aware of these resources or have yet to use them, here is an overview of the main features of the "Student Support" menu on the university portal.

Our university’s Career and Start-up Support Division, a part of the University Job Plus Center, provides comprehensive support to help students explore and shape their career paths. It offers a range of programs focusing on employment, entrepreneurship, and internships, with personalized services that help students set and pursue their career goals from an early stage.

Specifically, the "NEST+" (employment support) and "SEIP+" (start-up support) programs, part of the university’s mid- to long-term development plan, provide systematic career planning support tailored to each academic year. Through one-on-one career counseling, these programs offer career guidance tailored to each student's unique circumstances.

The Career and Start-up Support Division offers diagnostic services to help students better understand themselves, including MBTI, STRONG, and career preference tests, along with support for job application documents and interview preparation. Additionally, it provides practical job preparation support, such as individual consultations, job placement support, recommended job opportunities, and guidance on youth employment policies. After logging into the Edelweiss system, students can conveniently apply for consultation reservations through the "Quick Menu."

The Career and Start-up Support Division also operates the JOB Café to enhance the students’ job-seeking skills. The JOB Café features a fully equipped mock interview room designed to simulate real interview situations, allowing for effective interview preparation. It also includes a Magic Room that accommodates group interviews and study sessions. Additionally, the division provides an employment information search station with both online and offline resources, offering an environment where users can explore various job opportunities.

The division provides a variety of tailored services to help students set their career paths early and develop practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Since these services offer concrete support for achieving individual career goals, actively using them can greatly assist students in planning ahead and transitioning successfully into the workforce.

Our university offers community service and domestic volunteer programs to cultivate a practical spirit of service. The Community Service (I, II) courses are designed to realize the spirit of "practical service," which embodies our university's philosophy of creating a mature world culture based on applied studies, and to cultivate a spirit of service that values love for neighbors, society, and humanity.

Community service refers to unpaid activities conducted through formal organizations or individuals that support non-relatives or contribute to society. Unlike one-time acts of kindness, community service is characterized by voluntary, planned participation and sustained engagement over a certain period.

This course is classified as a general education elective and is offered as a 1-credit course with a Pass/Fail grading system, which counts toward graduation credits. Any enrolled student can apply for the course within the allowed maximum credit limit during the specified registration period. Students can earn up to 2 credits while enrolled at the university.

The standards for completing community service courses are clearly defined. To receive a Pass rating, students must complete 3 hours of basic training, participate in at least 27 hours of volunteer work, and obtain an evaluation score of 18 or higher out of 28 points from a social welfare facility, volunteer organization, or supervising instructor. In cases where volunteer activities involve both students and faculty members, this evaluation requirement may be waived. Conversely, a Non-pass rating is given when a student fails to complete the basic training, does not submit the volunteer activity report (reflection essay), demonstrates poor attendance or attitude during volunteer activities, or when overall volunteer performance is insufficient.

Participants are required to attend basic training before engaging in volunteer activities and must submit an activity report upon completion. Grades are awarded through a final evaluation by the Social Service Committee based on the initial evaluation conducted by the relevant volunteer organization. Those who complete the course will be issued a certificate of community service activity and may also be eligible for benefits such as priority in job recommendations, when applicable.

Volunteer activities are carried out at social welfare organizations, educational institutions (elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as affiliated kindergartens), and government offices (such as provincial offices, city halls, and community centers). These activities also include joint programs involving students and faculty members, such as environmental conservation and flood recovery efforts along the Musimcheon Stream. In addition, students may participate in a variety of activities, including volunteer work utilizing their academic and professional expertise, learning assistance for students with disabilities on campus, club-affiliated volunteer programs, and tutoring for underprivileged youth.

In addition, the university actively promotes domestic volunteer work through the Sarang Volunteer Group, organizing a wide range of programs. These include both on-campus initiatives and collaborative efforts with external organizations.

The main volunteer activities include operating Mugunghwa Night School, environmental protection efforts at Musimcheon and Uam Mountain, distributing coal briquettes through the Love Foundation, rural community service, and summer acupuncture-based medical volunteering. In addition, various ongoing volunteer programs are conducted in conjunction with both on-campus and off-campus events. Students enrolled in social service courses also participate in action-based volunteering linked to “Servant Leadership” and “Social Service Practice.”

Our university offers a range of volunteer activities and educational programs grounded in a spirit of practical service, helping students cultivate both character and leadership through active engagement with society and the local community. Through these efforts, the university lays a strong foundation for students to become responsible members of future society and leads the way in fostering a warm, community-oriented culture.

Our university offers a variety of counseling programs to promote students’ psychological well-being and strengthen their career development. The main services include one-on-one career and psychological counseling, as well as psychological assessments such as the MBTI, CST Personality Strengths Test, and STRONG Career Interest Inventory. In addition, the university offers career courses such as "Understanding the World of Work and Career Exploration" and "Career Setting and Career Selection," along with career-related programs including "Dream Step," "Career Compass," and "Job Understanding." In addition to psychological programs such as group counseling and special lectures on mental health support, the university provides adaptation support programs, including in-depth and group counseling for high-risk groups and volunteer activities through the Pine Tree Volunteer Group.

Requesting a consultation is simple. After selecting the expert consultation menu in the Edelweiss system, choose your concern from the "My concern is OO" section. After that, you can complete the application by specifying your preferred counselor, selecting the desired date and time for the consultation, and filling out the consultation type and content.

Students can conveniently apply for counseling at any time to receive support for psychological well-being and career development, and receive support for healthy growth and adaptation throughout their college life.

Next, we will introduce the international exchange programs offered by our university. Our university operates 19 outstanding overseas exchange programs through a network of approximately 260 sister universities in 31 countries worldwide. Additionally, we run various on-campus international exchange programs involving approximately 1,000 international students from over 20 countries.

Our university's international exchange program offers students a variety of opportunities to study at prestigious universities abroad without interrupting their studies. Up to 18 credits can be recognized as graduation credits from our university, allowing students to continue their studies seamlessly. Overseas study is possible using the tuition paid to our university. Through special agreements with sister universities, we not only provide high-quality education but also offer participation at lower costs compared to other universities or private study abroad centers.

Major international exchange programs include study abroad and exchange student programs. These programs involve students being sent abroad to take major and liberal arts courses as part of their degree requirements. Representative examples include the “Next Generation Leaders Development Overseas Scholarship Study Abroad” program, which sends students to sister universities in the United States and the United Kingdom, and the “2+2 Dual Degree” program, which allows students to obtain degrees simultaneously from our university and sister universities in China.

The Sister University Language Study Program sends students to sister universities abroad to study languages while completing their regular courses. It includes programs such as the “Sister University English Study Abroad Scholarship,” the “Second Foreign Language Study Abroad Scholarship,” and the “Vacation English Study Abroad Program.” Additionally, the "American University Regular Course Challenge" program allows students to experience language training and regular courses at an American university simultaneously.

The overseas internship program is operated with active student participation in mind and includes various programs such as "US language training + internship," "UK language training + internship," "Chinese language training + internship," "internship at a Canadian educational institution," and "internship as a Korean language assistant teacher at a sister university in China.“

The short-term cultural experience and training programs take place during the holidays and last from one to eight weeks, providing opportunities to communicate and build friendships with young people from Europe and around the world through volunteer activities such as the "International Work Camp.“

Through the university’s "Buddy" and "Mentoring" programs with international students, students can interact with friends from various countries and earn community service credits and activity allowances.

Through these programs, our university’s international exchange program provides students with structured educational opportunities to help strengthen their global capabilities and gain a wide range of experiences.

Finally, our university offers student support through nationally accredited programs, including the Korea Architectural Accreditation Program (administered by the Korea Architectural Accrediting Board, KAAB) and the Korea Accreditation Board of Nursing Education (KABON) certification. The Korea Architectural Accrediting Board (KAAB) administers the Korea Architectural Accreditation Program, a national accreditation system that systematically evaluates the quality of domestic architectural education programs. The program aims to foster architectural professionals who meet international standards. This serves not only to improve the quality of architectural education but also as a foundation for cultivating specialized human resources demanded by the nation and society.

The accreditation applies to universities that offer five-year specialized degree programs in architecture and comprehensively evaluates curriculum structure and operation, faculty expertise, student support systems, and learning outcomes. This process establishes the sustainability of education and an autonomous improvement system.

The Korea Architectural Accreditation Program obtained by our university serves as the basis for granting graduates the right to take the architect qualification examination under the Architectural Act, and acts as a key qualification requirement for entering professional practice. Furthermore, accredited universities receive official recognition domestically and internationally for the quality and expertise of their education.

The nursing education accreditation system evaluates and accredits the quality of nursing department curricula according to the accreditation standards set by the Korea Accreditation Board of Nursing Education (KABON). This ensures that graduates of accredited universities are prepared to perform the practical duties required in the nursing field.

The purpose of this system is to systematize educational curricula to train nurses with the skills required in the healthcare field and to support the improvement of the quality of nursing education. Educational institutions must establish an autonomous quality management system and operate programs that meet international standards.

Our university’s Nursing Department has met these standards and received nursing education accreditation, which qualifies graduates to take the national nursing examination. This accreditation is also a key indicator in the government’s evaluation of administrative and financial support for universities. It plays an important role in the overall institutional assessment..

In addition, this certification, commissioned by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, serves as a key criterion when designating and reviewing specialized nursing education courses, and is evaluated as an achievement that demonstrates the excellence of nursing education at our university.

Our university has been officially recognized for the quality and expertise of its education through the Korea Architectural Accreditation Program (KAAB Accreditation) and the Korea Accreditation Board of Nursing Education (KABON) certification. Our university actively supports students in strengthening their practical skills and obtaining professional qualifications. These accredited programs offer students a structured and high-quality educational environment, supporting their academic success and professional development.

In this way, our university has established a variety of support systems for students. Ultimately, it is up to the students to become familiar with these systems and actively utilize them, as their engagement can influence the depth and direction of their university life. We hope that, through a variety of programs, students can enjoy a more meaningful and enriching college experience.

학생 지원, 우리가 꼭 알아야 할 정보

우리는 강의, 과제, 팀 프로젝트로 하루하루를 바쁘게 보내다 보면 정작 우리에게 꼭 필요한 정보를 놓치기 쉽다. 특히 대학 생활에 실질적인 도움이 되는 다양한 학생 지원 제도가 마련되어 있음에도, 이를 제대로 알지 못한 채 학기를 지나치는 경우가 많다.

우리 대학 역시 학생들을 위한 ▲취창업지원단 ▲봉사활동지원 ▲학생상담지원 ▲국제교류 ▲인증제를 운영하고 있으나, 이를 놓치거나 제대로 활용하지 못하는 학생들을 위해 학교 포털 사이트 내 ‘학생지원’ 메뉴에 담긴 주요 내용을 소개하고자 한다.

우리 대학은 학생들의 진로 지원을 위해 대학일자리플러스센터 산하에 ‘취창업지원단’을 운영하고 있다. 취창업지원단은 학생들이 조기에 진로 목표를 설정하고 이를 달성할 수 있도록 취업, 창업, 현장실습 지원 프로그램을 개발하며 다양한 맞춤형 서비스를 제공한다.

특히 중·장기 발전계획의 일환으로 추진 중인 ‘NEST+’(취업 지원)와 ‘SEIP+’(창업 지원) 프로그램을 통해 학년별 진로 설계를 체계적으로 지원하고 있으며, 1:1 취업 상담을 통해 학생 개개인의 상황에 맞춘 진로 지도가 이뤄지고 있다.

취창업지원센터에서는 입사지원서 첨삭, 면접 클리닉은 물론, MBTI·STRONG·직업선호도 검사 등 자기 이해를 돕는 진단 서비스도 제공하고 있다. 아울러 맞춤형 취업 정보 제공, 추천 채용 연계, 청년고용정책 안내 등 실질적인 취업 준비를 위한 다양한 지원이 이뤄지고 있다. 에델바이스 시스템에 접속 후, ‘Quick Menu’에서 상담 예약을 빠르게 신청할 수 있다.

취창업지원센터는 구직자들의 실질적인 취업 역량 강화를 위해 JOB카페를 운영 중이다. JOB카페에는 실전 면접을 대비할 수 있는 모의면접실이 마련돼 있어 면접 클리닉이 가능하며, 집단 면접과 스터디 모임이 가능한 취업매직룸도 갖춰져 있다. 또한, On-Line과 Off-Line을 아우르는 취업정보 검색대를 통해 다양한 취업 정보를 탐색할 수 있는 환경을 제공하고 있다.

이처럼 취창업지원센터는 우리대학 학생들이 진로를 조기에 설정하고 실질적인 취업과 창업 역량을 키울 수 있도록 다양한 맞춤형 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 학생 개개인의 진로 목표 달성에 실질적인 도움이 되는 만큼, 이를 적극적으로 활용한다면 보다 주도적인 진로 설계와 성공적인 사회 진출에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

우리 대학은 실천적 봉사정신 함양을 위해 사회봉사 및 국내 봉사 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 사회봉사(Ⅰ,Ⅱ) 교과목은 실용학문을 바탕으로 성숙한 세계문화를 창조하자는 우리대학의 대학 이념인 ‘실천봉공‘ 정신을 실현하고, 이웃과 사회, 인류를 사랑하는 봉사정신을 기르기 위한 교육과정이다.

사회봉사활동은 공식 조직이나 개인을 통해 친족이 아닌 타인을 돕거나 사회에 기여하는 무보수 활동을 의미하며, 자발적이고 계획적인 참여를 기반으로 일정 시간 이상 지속되는 점에서 단발적인 선행과는 구별된다.

해당 교과목은 교양선택으로 분류되며, 1학점(Pass/Non-pass)제로 운영되고 졸업학점에 포함된다. 재학생이라면 누구나 수강 신청이 가능하며, 수강 신청은 정해진 기간 내 최대 수강 가능 학점 범위 안에서 할 수 있다. 재학 중 최대 2학점까지 이수할 수 있다.

사회봉사 교과목의 이수 기준은 명확하게 정해져 있다. Pass 판정을 받기 위해서는 기본교육 3시간을 이수하고, 27시간 이상 봉사활동에 참여해야 하며, 사회복지시설이나 봉사기관, 또는 지도교수로부터 28점 만점 중 18점 이상의 평가점수를 받아야 한다. 단, 학생과 교직원이 함께하는 봉사활동의 경우에는 해당 평가 항목이 생략될 수 있다. 반면, Non-pass 판정은 기본교육을 이수하지 않았거나 실습보고서(봉사활동 소감문)를 제출하지 않은 경우, 봉사활동 출석이나 태도가 불량한 경우, 또는 봉사 실적이 전반적으로 저조한 경우에 해당된다.

수강생은 봉사활동 전 기본교육에 반드시 참여해야 하며, 활동 종료 후에는 실습보고서를 제출해야 한다. 성적은 해당 봉사기관의 1차 평가를 바탕으로 사회봉사위원회의 최종 평가를 통해 부여된다. 과목 이수자에게는 사회봉사활동 인증서가 발급되며, 필요 시 취업추천 우선권 등의 혜택도 제공될 수 있다.

봉사활동은 사회복지기관, 교육기관(초·중·고교 및 병설유치원), 관공서(도청, 시청, 동사무소 등) 등에서 이루어지며, 무심천 환경 가꾸기나 수해 복구 활동처럼 학생과 교직원이 함께 참여하는 프로그램도 포함된다. 또한, 전공 및 전문지식을 활용한 봉사, 교내 장애학생 학습도우미 활동, 동아리 연계 봉사, 불우청소년 학습지도 등 다양한 분야에서 활동이 가능하다.

또한 우리대학은 국내 봉사활동을 활성화하기 위해 사랑봉사단을 중심으로 다양한 봉사 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 교내에서 자체적으로 진행되는 활동은 물론, 외부 기관과 협력한 프로그램도 활발히 이루어지고 있다.

주요 봉사활동으로는 무궁화 야간학교 운영, 무심천 및 우암산 환경 가꾸기, 사랑의 연탄 나누기, 농촌 봉사활동, 하계수지침 의료봉사 등이 있으며, 그 외에도 교내외 행사와 연계한 다양한 봉사활동이 상시 진행되고 있다. 또한 사회봉사 교과목 수강생을 대상으로 ‘섬김의 리더십’과 ‘사회봉사실천’ 과목과 연계한 실천형 봉사활동도 함께 운영되고 있다.

우리대학은 실천적 봉사정신을 바탕으로 학생들이 사회와 이웃을 위한 적극적인 참여를 통해 인성과 리더십을 함께 키울 수 있도록 다양한 봉사활동과 교육 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 이를 통해 학생들이 미래 사회의 책임감 있는 구성원으로 성장할 수 있는 토대를 마련하며, 지역사회와 함께하는 따뜻한 공동체 문화를 조성하는 데 앞장서고 있다.

우리대학은 학생들의 심리적 안정과 진로 역량 강화를 위해 다양한 상담과 프로그램을 제공하고 있다. 주요 서비스로는 1:1 진로 및 심리 상담과 MBTI, CST 성격강점검사, STRONG 직업흥미검사 등 심리검사가 있다. 또한, ‘직업세계의 이해와 진로탐색’, ‘진로설정과 직업선택’ 등 진로 교과목과 ‘드림스텝’, ‘진로나침반’, ‘직무이해’ 등 진로 관련 프로그램을 운영한다. 심리 집단 상담과 마음건강 지원 특강 등 심리 프로그램뿐만 아니라, 고위험군을 위한 심층 상담과 집단 상담, 봉사 활동 프로그램인 소나무봉사단 등 적응 지원 프로그램도 함께 진행하고 있다.

상담 신청은 매우 간단하다. 에델바이스 시스템에서 전문가 상담 메뉴를 선택한 뒤, ‘나의 고민은 OO이다’ 항목에서 본인의 고민을 선택한다. 이후 희망하는 상담사를 지정하고, 상담 희망 일자와 시간을 선택한 후 상담 형태와 내용을 기재하면 신청이 완료된다.

학생들은 언제든지 편리하게 상담을 신청해 심리적 안정과 진로개발에 도움을 받을 수 있으며, 대학생활 전반에 걸쳐 건강한 성장과 적응을 지원받을 수 있다.

다음 프로그램 소개는 국제교류이다. 우리 대학 국제 교류는 전세계 31개국 260여개 자매대학 네트워크를 통하여 우수한 19가지 해외파견 국제교류프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 또한, 20여개국 1,000여명의 외국인 유학생들과 함께 다양한 교내 국제교류프로그램을 운영하고 있다.

우리 대학 국제교류 프로그램은 학생들이 학업을 중단하지 않고도 해외 명문대학에서 공부할 수 있는 다양한 기회를 제공한다. 최대 18학점까지 본교 졸업학점으로 인정받아 학업에 공백 없이 이어갈 수 있으며, 본교 등록금으로 해외 유학이 가능하다. 자매대학과의 특별 협정을 통해 수준 높은 교육을 제공하는 것은 물론, 타 대학이나 사설 유학원에 비해 저렴한 비용으로 참여할 수 있다.

주요 국제교류 프로그램으로는 파견 및 교환학생 프로그램이 있다. 이 프로그램은 교환학생으로 파견되어 학위과정의 전공 및 교양 과목을 수강하는 형태다. 미국과 영국 자매대학에 파견되는 ‘차세대 지도자 육성 해외 장학유학’ 프로그램과 중국 자매대학에서 우리 대학과 동시에 학위를 취득할 수 있는 ‘2+2 복수학위’ 프로그램이 대표적이다.

자매대학 어학연수 프로그램은 외국 자매대학에 파견되어 어학연수와 정규과정을 병행하는 프로그램으로, ‘자매대학 장학영어 유학’, ‘제2외국어 장학유학’, ‘방학영어연수’ 등이 있다. 특히 ‘미국대학정규과정도전’ 프로그램은 어학연수와 미국 대학의 정규과정을 함께 경험할 수 있다.

해외 인턴십 프로그램은 학생들의 능동적 참여를 중심으로 운영되며, ‘미국 어학연수+인턴십’, ‘영국 어학연수+인턴십’, ‘중국 어학연수+인턴십’, ‘캐나다 교육기관 인턴십’, ‘중국자매대학 한국어 보조교사 인턴십’ 등이 있다.

단기 문화체험 및 연수 프로그램은 방학 중 1~8주 동안 진행되며, ‘국제워크 캠프’와 같이 자원봉사 활동을 통해 유럽 등 세계 각국의 청년들과 소통하고 우정을 쌓는 기회를 제공한다.

교내에서는 외국인 유학생과 함께하는 ‘버디’와 ‘멘토링’ 프로그램을 통해 학생들이 다양한 국가의 친구들과 교류하고 사회봉사 학점과 활동비 혜택을 받을 수 있다.

이처럼 우리대학 국제교류 프로그램은 학생들의 글로벌 역량 강화와 다채로운 경험을 지원하는 체계적인 교육 기회를 제공하고 있다.

마지막으로 소개할 학생지원은 한국건축학교인증과 간호교육인증이 있다. 우선 한국건축학교인증은 한국건축학교육인증원(KABET)이 주관하 것으로 국제기준에 부합하는 건축전문인 양성을 목표로, 국내 건축학교육 프로그램의 질적 수준을 체계적으로 평가·인증하는 제도이다. 이는 건축학 교육의 질 향상은 물론, 국가·사회가 요구하는 전문 인재 양성을 위한 기반으로 작용한다.

인증 대상은 5년제 건축학 전문 학위과정을 운영하는 대학으로, 교육과정의 구성과 운영, 교수진의 전문성, 학생 지원 체계, 학습 성과 등을 종합적으로 평가받는다. 이 과정을 통해 교육의 지속 가능성과 자율적인 개선 체계가 마련된다.

우리 대학이 획득한 한국건축학교육인증은 졸업생에게 「건축사법」에 따른 건축사 자격시험 응시 자격을 부여하는 기반이 되며, 실무 진출을 위한 핵심적인 자격 요건으로 작용한다. 아울러 인증 대학은 국내외에서 교육의 질과 전문성을 공식적으로 인정받는 효과를 얻게 된다.

간호교육인증제는 한국간호교육평가원(KABON)이 정한 인증기준에 따라 간호학과 교육과정의 질을 평가해 인증하는 제도다. 이를 통해 인증을 받은 대학 졸업생이 간호 현장에서 요구되는 실무를 수행할 준비가 되어 있음을 보증한다.

이 제도의 목적은 보건의료 현장에서 필요로 하는 역량을 갖춘 간호사를 양성하기 위해 교육과정을 체계화하고, 간호교육의 질적 향상을 지원하는 데 있다. 교육기관은 자율적인 질 관리 체계를 구축하고, 국제적 수준에 부합하는 프로그램을 운영해야 한다.

우리 대학 간호학과는 이 같은 기준을 충족해 간호교육인증을 획득했으며, 이에 따라 졸업생은 간호사 국가시험 응시자격을 부여받는다. 또한, 해당 인증은 교육기관에 대한 정부의 행정 및 재정 지원 평가에 반영되어 대학 운영 전반의 중요한 평가 지표로 활용되고 있다.

아울러 보건복지부 위탁으로 시행되는 이 인증은 전문간호사 교육과정의 지정 및 증원 심사 시에도 핵심 기준으로 작용해, 우리 대학 간호학과 교육의 우수성을 입증하는 성과로 평가받는다.
