 | 1. Introduction |
The Center for International Affairs carries out a variety of programs such as research in international issues, academic exchange and student exchange with overseas universities, invitation and dispatch of exchange students, operation of Korean language education center, and CJU international affairs like attraction of foreign students. The center opened in 1959 in the name of International Culture Research Center and changed its name to International Issue Research Center in 1982 and again to the Center for International Affairs in March 1999 so as to keep abreast with the globalization of education in late 1990s.
So far, the center has made sisterhood relationships with 85 foreign universities in 20 countries including the U.S., Japan and China, and sends about 300 Korean students to sisterhood universities every year. As a result of active campaign to attract foreign students, there are 1400 foreign students at CJU as of December 2008.
The center will play a vital role in developing CJU as a globally-oriented university by developing more specialized and diverse programs, enhancing international competitiveness and stature of CJU students and making aggressive and continued exchange and cooperation with overseas universities. It will also continuously endeavor to attract more foreign students. |

 | 2. Attracting foreign students |
Under the goals of internationalization of CJU and fostering of international professionals, the Center for International Affairs has planned and executed programs to attract foreign students. It has built sisterhood relationships with foreign universities, and held meetings to give information on studying at CJU. As a result of various events and activities, there are 1400 or so foreign students from 20 countries at CJU as of December 2008.
CJU provides diverse incentives for foreign students such as 50% reduction of tuition fees, various scholarship programs, superior education programs, dormitory and so on. It does its best to create a favorable environment for foreign students.
If your both parents have foreign nationality and you have a high school diploma, you can apply to CJU. The center will provide document screening and interviews before making final decisions on selecting foreign students. |
