The objectives of the department of library and information science are to educate students to become librarians and information specialists who are able to
(1) collect, organize and process knowledge and information of high quality in systematic ways,
(2)create from them value-added information products and services for the public, government, the industry and the academia, and
(3) preserve and communicate human intellectual, artistic and cultural assets for the present and future generation.
During the course, students majoring in library and information science are required to obtain knowledge in
(1) the management of various types of libraries and information-related services and organizations
(2) the techniques of collection, organization, storage and retrieval of information in diverse information environments
(3) the development of current information, communication and network technologies, and
(4) the organization and creations of information products including bibliographies for old and current documents and literatures, databases, and electronic information resources.
Upon the completion of library and information science program, students receive "A Certificate of Librarian (Level 2)" issued by the Korean Library Association, and get a job not only in various libraries, including school libraries, academic libraries, special libraries, and public libraries, but also information centers, IT industries, and government offices.

The major educational goal of the Division of English Language and Literature at Cheongju University is to help students to prepare themselves in making relevant contributions in various areas of the society in the future. For this, the Division offers a range of courses to the enrolled students.
Specifically, the Division offers British and American literature courses from which students learn the Western cultures which are essential in effectively communicating with English-speaking people in this time of globalization. In addition, the Division provides students with a range of English-language related courses in which students are trained to improve their English language communicative skills.
The Division employs a number of instructors whose native language is English. In conjunction with qualified Korean-speaking professors, the English-speaking instructors do best in order to ensure the enrolled students to get the best English language training.

The educational goal of the department of English Language and Literature at Cheongju University is to help students to prepare themselves in making relevant contributions in various areas of the society in the future. For this, the Department have the enrolled students get extensive training in the area of English poetry, novels, and plays. In addition, the Department offers English linguistics courses including English phonetics,
word-structure, and sentence-structure through which students learn the history and nature of the development and change of the English language as well as learn how to use the English language properly. For the English language training, the Department boasts well-equipped language labs where the enrolled students also learn how to better prepare for official language tests including but not limited to TOEFL, TOEIC, and TEPS. The students also participate in English plays performed regularly on the campus.
The Department also holds a department-wide colloquiuum once a year where it invites guest speakers who gives valuable information to the students about how to prepare themselves for their future career.

The department divides to the major of the Chinese language and Chinese literature which has come from the ancient age to modern age.
Also the department of the Chinese language and Chinese literature has produced a large number of scholars scine 1974 when it has established.

Language is culture. Therefore, Japanese language means Japanese culture. According to this point of view, we let the students know Japanese culture correctly by making them study the cultural meaning of Japanese language in an analytic side and an expressive side.
After completing the curriculum, the student who got the certificate of qualification for formal Japanese teachers can be a Japanese teacher in a public middle school and high school. He can be a worker in an overseas branch of a company or in a Japanese company in Korea using the firm ability of Japanese language. He also can work in the tourist business and can work as a translator or an interpreter.

The Department of German Language and Literature aims to provide students with a profound understanding of the German culture from various perspectives, preparing them for the era of globalization. The courses offered are designed for the development of language skills, especially oral proficiency and translation. The department also emphasizes the comparative studies of the German and Korean culture and language. For this purpose the department provides students with language lab and multimedia rooms to practice oral and audial faculties of German language, and moreover, the educational processes will be gradually carried on for the effect of learning.
1. Basic Phase
In this phase the lecturer brings up colloquial German language for daily conversation and the point of German culture. For this purpose, the department offers some courses like ‘Basic German’, ‘German Conversation’, ‘Understanding German Culture’ etc.
2. Linguistic Phase
In this step, the students learn the skill of language analysis through the courses like ‘Introduction to Linguistics’ and 'Special Lecture on German Linguistics' and of actual use through 'Translation Theory', ‘Literary Translation Practice’ and ‘Business German’.
3. Literary Phase
In this phase the students get the survey of German literature through courses ‘History of German Literature’, ‘German Literature Method’, ‘The Literary Aesthetics’ etc.
4. Phase of Actual Use
Students will be trained to grow able (wo)men through the courses ‘Germany and EU', 'German in the Internet', 'Business German' etc. so that they become skillful at every trade.
